The Weakley County Trustee’s Office continually strives to find and offer new services to benefit our taxpayers. We believe this new service will prove to be extremely beneficial locally as well as statewide.

The current “2007” taxes are due and payable beginning Monday, October 1st through the last day of February, 2008. Our office is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm for your convenience.

Services Offered
The Trustee serves three primary functions: (1) collecting all county property taxes (all property, real and personal, tangible and intangible, must be assessed for taxation by the state or its political subdivisions unless property is declared to be exempt by some provision of Tennessee law); (2) keeping a fair regular account of all money received; and (3) investing temporarily idle county funds. The trustee disburses sales tax revenues and may collect municipal property taxes and other state and local taxes. The trustee generally acts as treasurer for the county, receiving and paying out funds. The trustee must keep a detailed account of these transactions.
In addition, the Trustee administers a State funded Tax Relief Program to help the elderly and disabled citizens pay their property taxes. For qualifying applicants, the State of Tennessee will pay a portion of the property taxes for their home. Applications must be completed no later than 35 days after the February 28th tax payment deadline.

Donald Doster, the current Trustee, has served Weakley County since September 1, 1990.    He is a life long resident of Dresden, and he is married to the former Brenda Gatewood.    They have 3 children; Deanna Doster Freeman, Troy Doster, and Jake Doster.    Seven grandchildren bless their lives as well.    Donald is a Baptist Minister and a licensed Auctioneer.
Deputies: Linda Pettit is the 1st deputy.    Linda has worked in the Trustee's Office since September 1990.    Lori King is the 2nd deputy. Lori joined the team in January 2004.
